Can someone walk me through the complete hardware and software hook up/installation for a DSL service into a new desktop with WIN 98? Thank you. Please include software commands on the desktop GUI.

The hardware you need is a network card and dsl modem. Also a router if you wish have more than one computer and/or for security.
Your isp should provide you with the necessary software.

Also, make sure your filters are hooked up correctly. It may sound stupid, but u have no idea how many of my friend who have installed one keep forgetting to put a filter on a coupler (if your are a phone with the DSL on the same phonejack). Just make sure you dont put a filter on the DSL line just the phone. Also many many times (i've heard a lot of complaints, especially if you deal with Verizon who have the most horrible tech and customer support) about the dsl's ready lights blinking constantly with no steady light ever happening. You must make sure you install everything on the ready date that you are given. There was some business glith before where people were able to be hooked up and ready as soon as they got their software way before the "ready date" they were give but you can't do that anymore. Anyhow, make sure you have a filter on every phone in your house.
Follow the Network settings EXACTLY as they appear in the installation booklet it comes with and you shouldn't have any problems. Just in case, if you do have problems and you feel that your DSL settings and filters are set up correctly call up the 1-800 number and make sure your line is ready for DSL service. Sometimes it takes longer to set up someone's phone for DSL service than the actual ready date. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
