How do I make the programs folder within the start menu cascade right accross the screen, rather than down, which requires me to page down or cursor down to find programs. Thanks.

Welcome to the PC Guide Discussion forums genrl http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

If you mean that the list is so long that it goes beyond your screen there are a couple of things you can do:

Right-click on the Start button and choose Open then right-click on an open portion in that window and choose New/Folder then name it what you like. I made a few of them PC Games, Music Stuff, Unused etc. Once you have the new folder made double-click on the Programs folder and then leave that window open...then right-click on the Start button again....No just drag and drop all the things from the Programs folder to the new folders you made. These will show up at the top when you click Start http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

The other thing you could do is change the size of the entire Start by choosing Start/Settings/Taskbar & Start Menu/Taskbar Options then put a check in the box Show small icons in the Start Menu http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I hope this helps you http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Windows ME has a feature called smart menu. It only shows the frequently accessed programs, all the others are hidden. Then you just click on the
arrows to expand the whole list. Be sure the scroll menu option box is
unchecked. Start>settings>taskbar and Start menu>Advance. The bottem left corner.

What's up with that?

Hey,

There's a reg tweak for this somewhere. I used to have it, used it, but then bought new computer and inadvertently misplaced the tweak. Damned if I can find it now.

It's a tweak that will allow 98SE's start menu to mimic that of 95. Wish I could find it again.

Cheers,

Big Blue 66
