I have a Sony Spressa CDRW with a max speed of 8x. It seems like everytime I try to make a playable audio cd from mp3's or wav files, it begins the process and after a few minutes of the music, it gets an error that it can't finish wasting a CD-R. The software that is included with the CDRW is Sony CD Extreme. How do I make it work correctly? It is the CD-R's I'm using or is the software buggy? Need help.. Are there better software to use?

I ve had experiences with the sony software, and they were not to pleasant.I love nti software its always work for me.I never like roxios cd creator either. But the problem your having is buffer underrun.Sonys do not having burnproof ,which eliminates bufferunderrun completely. Also you can surf the web and every thing while burning(w/burnproof).Its great. One thing I would do is get a plextor, there expensive but there worth it.But if you short on cash then try this.First do not mess with your computer while burning, like opening programs etc..Next download wintasks 2000 ,go to google.com and search for wintask 2000 download. Then load it on,then close all programs that do not have the red circle around it and then start to burn.Just read wintasks instructions. After this you should never get buffer underrun again.

As diurnal suggested, make sure you close all unnecssary programs running in the background ( like anti-vrus, etc...) becuase cd-burning is cpu intensive, ever other app you have running increases the chances of you not successfully burning. Also, slow down the burn, use 2x or 4x, you'll get less errors, and a couple of minutes won't kill you. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hi Diz You haven't said whether this problem has just started
if so Defrag your hard drive, also I normally make an image to the h/drive
first I have tried lots of times to copy via adaptec without any joy also like somebody else mentioned close all programs that are running in the background, all accept Explorer and the CD writer stuff.
I know this sounds daft but you do have enough disc space on your hardrive ?

I've just done a google search and found the download. it states that the program is cpu intensive. I thought that was what we were trying to avoid?

I have a yamaha cdrw, adaptec software (that came with the cdrw) I got a lot of buffer under-runs when I used it on my old pc. (cyrix pr 233) but have had no probs on my new one (amd duron 750 mhz) but time will tell.

I found on the old, to eliminate the buffer under runs, I dissabled the screen saver, shut down all other progs not in use, & burned at a lower speed (1x)

The new pc is burning at 8x. but anything to prevent buffer under runs must be a good thing.
