Hi does anybody know how the search "http://search.msn.co.uk" in the address bar can be changed to another search engine such as "http://www.yahoo.msn.co.uk and so on, I have had a looked in Tools/internet/option/advance but there only seems to be tick box options.

Go here, IEinfohome (http://www.ieinfosite.co.uk/tip_view.asp?id=182) for a registry tip to change the default search option.
Warning! fooling with your registry can have severe consequences if you don't know what you're doiing! Always back it up before you attempt any changes!!

Hi iibob
I tried your linked and I followed the instructions
Changing the Search button site, with difference
To change the site that IE4 loads when you press the Search button, open Regedit and go to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Goto the Edit menu and choose New... then String Value. Call it "Search Bar" (without the quotes) then double click it and enter the full URL of the Search Engine you want to use for the value data.
The default is http://home.microsoft.com/search/search.asp
its still runs MSN from the "search" option in regedit, and not the new Search Bar I have added

Hi, I tried
Changing the Search button site

The default is http://home.microsoft.com/search/search.asp
the address bar options dosn't change anything the search in explorer still uses the default "Address Bar" and it ignores the new string called "search Bar"

Hmm, sorry that didn't work for you; personally i just installed the google search toolbar-i never really use the search function of IE's address bar.
I'll look into this some more and see if i can find some other posible solutions, and maybe one of the other guys here will have a possible fix. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hi there,
I'm using IE 5.5 don't know about IE4 but just click on the search button
and then in the search window on the left at top, there's a custom button
click on it and another little window will open. Inside there you will
have a selection to change the search button.

What's up with that?
