Some old CMOS can be a black plastic rectangle or even a blue barrell soldered on.

Can you pull out the BIOS chip?

Sea if you are still having frustrations with this one...and you are looking at the mobo...try using this Mobot ID Tool. (http://iceberg.pchomeworld.com/cgi-win/mobotGen/mobot.asp) I know it is the roundabout way...but if you're still stuck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I didn't have much luck with Google (as you prolly already know that).

I totally forgot about this kinda stuff at Windrivers (http://www.windrivers.com/utility/scripts/util.asp?cat=BIOS&cat2=BIOS%20Utilities) things like CMOS Killer etc. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

ps-I try to bring the good stuff I see at the other forums here to share as I know some folks don't have the time (or aren't junkies like us) to search for it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Look for a DALLAS chip. It does the same thing as a battery, and was fairly common in 486 class machines. I have a couple around here with them. It's about an inch long, 5/8 inch wide, DALLAS and a part number stamped on top. That's your battery. Others used a barrel shaped affair, usually green, soldered on. You wouldn't have much trouble recognizing it as a battery with the + signs on the end...
