My brother came to me today, with a quite concerning story. It was of his 7 year old daughter(my niece), who was searching the net for one of her role-models, and she got herself into a video of a fake of the person she was searching for, singing one of her songs, with lyrics that would make even me blush(I have been known for a somewhat blunt tongue - but not here, of course! :D ) EXTREMELY sexual and crude with lots of language no-no's - especially for a 7-year old. :(

So, he was wondering if there is any third party application you can get that can allow you to control what sites kiddies visit on the net.

What we really need, is a kids-only browser, which can be programmed with a list of websites that kids CAN go to, and basically, anything NOT on the approved site list is rejected.

I don't suppose you can get such a thing?

If not, WHY NOT! ;) Perhaps something I could look into coding...

Perhaps the title of this thread was a bad choice - I see that the moderators have already had to remove spam... :( Anyhow, my question is serious and valid, and after having a look at net nanny, this sounds like it might be exactly what my brother needs. Do any of you here use it? I think he will like the white and black lists feature.

blue coat k-9 web protection does what you want, and a lot of the multi-use av/firewall suites have a web filter. Zone Alarm Norton are some examples that do or should... (Zone Alarm did, I haven't played around with Norton)

If he has a router it is worth a look in there. Some routers have content type blocking options.
