I wanted to make my old 486DX4 into a file and print server and I was wondering if I could put W2K on it. Would it be a much better idea to put 95 on it instead??

It may very well be possible but according to Micro$haft (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/professional/evaluation/sysreqs/default.asp) it is below the system requirements. So I think Win 95 might be your choice...don't expect serious printing capabilities though http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I would install Windows NT but not Windows 2000. I belive the Installer for Win2K will check your system to see if it meets the specs for Win2K installation.

Like bassvax says for a small network Win9x may be the better choice.

Hope this helps http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
