Does anyone know of a way (perhaps within windows)
To limit the amount of bandwidth utilized by an FTP?
would you believe I want to slow it down?
and both directions...............
Thanks for any responses! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

If you're running a server there should be options on each individual account for limiting bandwidth. For downloading I don't know of any client programs that limit bandwidth. If you have a router there might be options in it's software.

The server Im using "doesn't" have any settings for limiting accts....
The only server I have experience with that does that, is serv-u, which Id rather not (but may end up) using.....but I also think this only limits client downloads, I also need to limit file xfers on the incoming side
In other words Im getting 600kb+ incoming, and I need to limit this to 500kb or less, (Its killing the capabilities of the connection its on) and since the people sending cant seem to figure out how to send to the server slower heh, I have a problem..... hopefully this helps clear up what I need to know and do....
Just FYI:... there are lots of 'clients' that limit your speed as to not use up all your bandwidth with 1 file download, for people who have limited bandwidth.....
I need to do this on the server end though.......
If you know a good server "other then" serv-u that has these options and runs on Win98 (Forgot to post the OS last time sorry) please post a link....Thanks http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
I was hoping perhaps someone knew of a reg setting that I could set to set a limit on TCP\IP usage

I use G6 ftp v2.0 and it has options for each user (maybe groups too I don't have any groups) to set speed limits up or down.

Try this, goto your users screen and highlight one of them. Go over to ratio, quota, bps. Is there not an option on the bottom of that screen for setting limits?
