While helping a friend on a Win98 system, I started Windows Explorer to look at some files. He had List as the View setting. I changed it to Details. The List view seemed normal, but the Details view showed no files. There were no headings over the area where I would expect to see file names, file types, byte counts, et cetera. The Large & Small Icons Views seemed normal.

I did not spend much time trying to get the Details View to work, but now am wondering how this anomaly happened and what to do about it in case I encounter it again.

did you try putting your courser in between heading lines and clicking on it and pulling to view more?

file...+> after dots go to the header click in between
until you see cross hair and pull to right

Yoda74: I think I tried that. When I get back to her system, I will fool around some more. I might not have tried opening up the headings at the right place to do some good. The File window was very wide, requiring scrolling to see it all, but no heading were visible.

She needed scanner drivers installed and was in a hurry to get it done, so I lived with List View, which I do not like.
