Hello guys I been playing FPS games on my rig for a while and they all seem to have the same problem.. Mostly in Metro 2033, crysis, and recently in Amnesia (I think it might just be the game's effects).

Basically I will run into sections of the game where the lighting goes from acceptable to WAY too dark in an instant. It goes away when I go back to a certain part of the level or as I progress. It gets real annoying when I am trying to sneak around and all of the sudden its like a cover put over my head and I gotta put a flash light on.

Any ideas? Could these be issues with the game's themselves?

I was thinking about updating my graphics driver but the last time I did that I had to go through dozens of forums to fix a login freeze on the welcome screen during boot up. It doesn't happen ever on Starcraft 2 or any RTS that I have played recently, just FPS games.

memo,

...recently in Amnesia (I think it might just be the game's effects).

I can't attest to the other games you mentioned, but this is definitely the case with Amnesia. It's supposed to be dark and atmospheric plus, if your character spends too long in the dark, he starts to lose his marbles.

It may be your brightness and/or contrast are set lower than standard already, and this is exacerbated when you reach elements of the games which are supposed to darken. However, you'd have to check your settings first to determine that.

I put my brightness pretty high and there's points where it just goes super dark. Like the brightness temporarily drops and just goes back up again. I know Amnesia is suppose to be dark and I get the lighting effects when your eyes adjust to the darkness. I will leave that one out for now.. I'll try another game though, maybe Doom 3, or Modern Warefare see if it does it.
