I purchased a used Laptop, with all sorts of stuff loaded.
It has IE 4.0
Netscape
When I click on the Netscape icon I go there.
When I click on IE it goes to MSN, but something called Freeweb is browser.
I am using @home ISP through a Linksys Router.
All the other PC,s in line with the router tell me IE 5.5 is browser.
I am confused here HELP!!!!
Freeweb, like many other ISPs uses a customized version of IE...it is called branding, they substitute their name and logo for the MS ones (after paying an appropriate fee, I suppose), some go so far as to "skin" the browser with customized colors, buttons and toolbars.

Freewwweb WAS a free internet service. They went out of business over a year ago, maybe close to 2 years, and Juno purchased their assets. (Juno sucks big time, don't even think about it.) Freewwweb was a great free Internet connection, I had no trouble with it at all. No big download, just a small 75K or so file that set up the internet connection, and added "By Freewwweb" to the top line of the browser where it usually says "Microsoft Internet Explorer". I don't know what Netscape has there, never used it.
The other PCs may be using IE 5.5, that depends on whether they've been updated lately. The difference shouldn't cause any trouble, since you're probably not actually using a browser on one machine that's installed on another...(Application servers do that, but not individual computers or workstations.)

This PCWorld (http://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,44201,pg,2,00.asp) link tells how to de-brand and re-brand Internet Explorer. De-branding does not need a Regitry tweak.
