Vanity Redirects

We have a MS Windows Network.

Somewhere there is programmed a redirect, i.e., type in "intranet" on the browser address bar and you are redirected to the intranet home page - and few others.

I'd like to add some more, but not sure where this information is usually programmed.

Otherwise I could work throough our IT group, but I have some write permissions there.

There are several ways of doing this...some are at the router level and some on the local machine.

One of the easiest is at the local machine level using the HOSTS file.

The obvious solution to me seems to be to add CNAME alias records to your DNS. (I'm assuming that by "MS Windows network" you mean you have an Active Directory domain)
