Hey internet, I am looking to acquire a laptop that has good gaming qualities. I have done some of my own research, but was wondering what the forums would have to say. I am looking to spend 1000$ max. Any ideas?

To be honest, I think you would get more bang for your buck if you spent the money on a decent desktop.

I am aware, but I go to school far from home, so a laptop will be much more convenient transporting back and forth

What about something like this (http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np5170-clevo-w170hn-pre-order-p-3000.html), then?

Not bad
here are my specifics, if you can match em I will be really appreciative and impressed :)
Looking for something around 14-16 inches (no bigger) and with a battery life of at least 3 hours (this laptop also has to serve for my class work, so it needs to be able to last during the school day)
if possible a powerful graphics card, like Nvidia 460M or ATI 5870M (then again powerful graphic card means less battery)
This would be ideal

May be you should pay attention to the updated HP Envy series? As far as I know they have rather performing 14" laptops... But I'm not sure about working time for the entire day.. this can only be achieved with Apple but for sure it won't cost 1000$...:(
