View Full Version : Windows, Windows.old, and Windows.old.000 ?

I have a question relating to when I upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7.
Can I delete the files Windows.old and Windows.old.000 or will that delete my operating system because those files take up a lot of space on my computer (more then 12gb), and when i was going to delete them, it said they were system files. Are these the old Vista files I can delete or not?

Please help and would really appreciate it to whoever helps me.

Welcome to the forum, Neath.

These sub-directories are created when you do an installation on top of the existing Vista install, instead of a clean installation with a formatted disk. It basically contains all the old system files, applications, and personal data.

As long as you are comfortable you do not need any of the data from there and you have it backed up elsewhere, you can delete them.
