Cable Modem/TV watch

Now that I have a cable modem hooked up with my cable TV provider, what software can I use to view an incoming TV channel in a window on my computer screen? Any reason this can't be done without additional hardware?

There may only be one cable coming into your house that carries both signals (TV and data) but there are filters installed to prevent the 2 from mixing, so the minimum you would need is a video card that has a TV in (or a video capture card) and a cable to connect the computer to the TV, cable box, VCR or whatever distribution setup you have for watching TV.....
