Hi all I am interested in setting up my computer to send and
receive faxes, but I don't know were to start, also is there
any free software,(easy to setup mind). are faxes free to send in this way ? this is new to me so I am wondering when a fax is sent
do I have to setup another number of sorts, because normally
fax machines work on a different line than the phone don't they?

The is fax software available, check outthis (http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000227.html) thread for some ideas of what is out there. No,you don"t need a separate line, it is just a heck of a lot more convienient if you are going to do a large number of them, but most of the fax software has the ability to distinguish between a data and a voice call....

Most modems come with fax software too. Mighty Fax by RKS Software is very easy to use and inexpensive. You can download the program, use it, and if it works for you, buy it on line for about $25. http://www.rkssoftware.com
