Of course the sting is that Rupert Murdock's NewsCorp paid $580 million for it just a few years ago.
The referenced article speculates it cost NewsCorp around a billion $ in losses before they pulled the plug.

ya that was a bad investment.. facebook put them out of biz... what about google + ? do you think they will put facebook out of biz

google definitely has more money to put into it then facebook does...

Word has it MySpace was sold to a group that includes Justin Timberlake.
Some speculation about using it to promote entertainment interests, at least it seems to be a better plan than NewsCorp had.

Facebook really blew them out of the water. I rarely visit MySpace now.
