Compaq wont start

I have a Compaq presario 4500 97 I'm useing it now here on line.
But When I go to start it, all I get on the scren is the Compaq logo.
I have to turn it off, then on, then off, then on, and maby like now it will start up. I have had this PC for a year and Iv never had this happen.
Can any one help me?

I found the trouble. It was a bad data cable.

Well pete I do believe most people WORK JOBS that PAY. I tried looking for something on your problem for two hrs finally gave up you could have called COMPAQ teck. support. just a thought! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

I'm sorry for sounding so mad. I DID call Compaq suport. They gave me good leads. I had the chance to troubleshoot this thing for the first time.
It was good for me.

No need for sorry's here Compaq is like HP they do not want to give you info unless you pay them and unless some one here knows there compaq stuff?? You usually end up waiting a while for a response.Have a good Sunday.
