Hi Everyone,

This is the first time I use this forum and I would really appreciate an answer to the following problem.

I have a very new computer and it's really amazing how little problems I have had with it. However, i get the idea that the APM (or APCI?) functions don't work. For instance, my monitor won't turn itself off after 15 minutes of inactivity which I dit set in the configuration options. The same way my hard disk doesn't spin down either after some time.

The problem shouldn't be the hardware, as it is all brand new and my system and bios should fully support APM. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

There are two places to set the APM options. If you are using Win98, one is in Control Panel, Power ?(I'm not sure exactly what it's called, as I have Power Management disabled on my PC and no icon in Control Panel anymore). There are options there to select power down times for hard drive and monitor. The second place is in the BIOS setup. Have you set your options in both places? I suspect any options you set in Windows will not work correctly if APM is not set to enabled in your BIOS.

Hope this helps. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
