Hi

I am trying to install Windows 7 Home Premium onto a SATA II drive with no luck yet.

I am using an Asrock MB which is not SATA II compatible, but I believe the drive will just run slower with this MB, I have tried using EASEUS back up to copy the drive but no luck. Do I need to partition the drive with "Primary" drive or "Logical" drive?

Is there any free software available that will boot from CD and prepair the drive for a clean Windows 7 installation?

I have a laptop running windows 7 and I tried to clone that but it wont let me, I did manage to clone it with a SATA I drive with Windows XP Pro and it booted in the PC that I cloned it in but when I transfered it into the new case etc it kept re-booting and wont let me try to re-install it with the XP cd.

Any suggestions would be grateful.

Cheers

Derek

Hi

Just looked at the BIOS settings and noticed that it was set up for RAID, so changed that setting and tried again, it now boots OK into Windows XP, I will try and clone my laptop drive now and post back what happens.

Cheers
