Hi all.

I am new to this, and a search of Google results in thousands of hits - most are radio stations.

I want to set one up of my own, so need to know what I need to do it.

I understand I will have to have some kind of webcaster software, I guess, so I will search for that now, but members here probably can reccomend good ones...

PREFER freeware, but perfectly happy to buy Shareware if the product does what it says on the packet. ;)

Also, how exactly do listeners "Tune-in" to your station?
Do you have to have a website in order to host the station?

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: Found this (http://www.nch.com.au/streaming/index.html) - does it all from a web-browser, which sounds nice and easy - reading this site now, but anyone got any alternatives?

I've seen both WMA and flash-based alternatives. Are you just looking to broadcast from your home computer?

Yes, that would be ideal.

ShoutCast (http://www.shoutcast.com/broadcast-tools)is free and was one of the first on the scene. Setting up the software is part one but registering with some directorate is also necessary so that you can be found on the web.

I googled setup streaming radio station (http://www.google.ie/#hl=en&source=hp&q=setup+streaming+radio+station&oq=setup+streaming+radio+station&aq=f&aqi=g-j1&aql=1&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=4768l18369l0l19127l31l31l1l15l16l0l207l2277 l2.12.1l15&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=efd7a45ab9e22c5c&biw=1358&bih=559) to find it.
