Replacing cpu fan on a 486 DX Everex Tempo - Novell Netware and now receiving error that the computer cannot get time because something is not plugged in. I have never come across this before. I have looked all over the inside of the machine. Any ideas? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
I have worked on Everex 486's that had the CMOS battery and clock chip molded together into what looks like an integrated circuit. The board is somewhat of an antique on the PC scale of time, and doesn't have the newer "watch" battery type.
Is the BIOS also losing its info? Can the time be set after the computer is running, or is it gone completely?

If your battery that keeps the clock running is dead, the following link may be a good source, and they have a fair amount of FAQs: http://www.powerline-battery.com/index.htm
