With windows live mail 2011, how do you get a desktop mail notification...
I have the little blue envelope at the bottom right but no little icon to say new mail has arrived....instead I have to constantly log on...
I am using windows 7
Thank You all...

I guess the only way is the leave the window minimized all day...

One approach is to install it on a POP mail desktop client such as Outlook Express or Thunderbird (http://email.about.com/od/mozillathunderbirdtips/qt/et_free_hotmail.htm) rather than use a browser. There is an add-on for Thunderbird that allows it to be minimized to the system tray (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Minimize_to_system_tray_%28Thunderbird%29) and hence inform you from there when new mails arrive.

Google Hotmail Notifier (http://www.google.com/#hl=en&cp=13&gs_id=1u&xhr=t&q=hotmail+notifier&qe=SG90IG1haWwgbm90aQ&qesig=lDGVTrqlJ37uMVhqxSunnw&pkc=AFgZ2tmhpAYRYeVpQkpjDeR5UvYbK519HOmewWjS6gMHU7 uyFaCzkLVut32EZa2BCcy7QBHyWJ_6GBng6Joj8UJEnRlT3_My gA&pf=p&sclient=psy&source=hp&pbx=1&oq=Hot+mail+noti&aq=0s&aqi=g-s5&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=34122e398b5a64cb&biw=1366&bih=576) and you will be given a number of options.

Just for ****s & giggles, I tried E-prompter (http://www.eprompter.com/) on my laptop for my two accounts & my wife's account. Works Like a charm. Sits in the system tray & tells you how many e-mails you have. Let's you read & delete them. Pretty neat.
