hi,
i looking for a service like open dns to block sites
i need block all sites that exist except the sites that i add manually
the ideia is to not creat a black list manualy but creat only a white list.
the open dns block by category and is not what i want because many sites
pass from that filter.
any one know something like that?
thanks a lot for your help

Some routers offer that functionality. Blocking by DNS only does not solve the problem...

hi,
i looking for a firewall server for block all sites.
the ideia is ot have a server running that program and all computers in the
network when try to connect to the web will send a request to the server
and the server will see what site / ip that the computer want and
give or deny acess to that site / ip
thanks for your help

the easy solution is to just plug-in or un-plug the computers. Some of the routers can use a mac filtering to disable/enable certain computers during certain times. I believe most business routers have it (just hypothetical speculation as I don't do too much with routers) and I remember seeing it with some commercial routers as well. the manual will have more information if the router supports it.

You could also ask us here any specific question you might have.

I have merged your three threads in this area since they effectively deal with the same issue. And I agree that a firewall (hardware or software based is a good way to go).

Most hardware routers can have a firewall enabled and then be set to allow/deny by domain or by IP address (both LAN and WAN) as well as by individual MAC addresses.

A computer with two network cards (one for WAN and one for LAN) can also be configured to run a wide variety of software firewalls - in effect turning the PC into a router with a firewall enabled.

Google will give you a number of ideas (http://www.google.ie/#hl=en&sugexp=emsp&cp=17&gs_id=1w&xhr=t&q=turn+pc+into+firewall&pf=p&sclient=psy&source=hp&pbx=1&oq=turn+pc+into+fire&aq=0v&aqi=g-v2g-b1&aql=f&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=e3b2ea06b5277f8&biw=1366&bih=588) noting that an old PC running Linux can be a very effective and cheap way to go.

hi,
in my router i donīt what that options the solution that you say a firewall server is what i looking for but i only found so far linux servers that does that.
the server is running windows and creat a virtual machine for running the linux
is not a option because will kill the server performance.
what i looking is a windows software that does that, i know windows server does that but i using windows xp in the server.
i looking for a friendly software user to see all sites blocked and add the sites
that the certain pc can see, if possible creat groups of computers and add the sites for that groups.
do you know something like that?
thanks for your help

You could try http://www.nat32.com/ or for another approach use hot-spot type software such as http://www.antamedia.com/
