When I was using IE5, and clicked on a file to download, the default option was always "Save To Disk". Now that I have IE6, and I click on Download, the default option is "Open File"--not sure if those are the exact works. I can of course click on "Save To Disk" which I always do. But I would like the default to be "Save To Disk". Does anyone know if that can be done? Thanks.

Welcome to Pc Guide Frank, I'v had 6 for a while I'm not quite sure what your asking (i'm sure some one else might). but when i down load it usually pops up a screen that say's what you want to do open, save, ect. i usually save to disk. it usually pops up another screen that gives you your options where you want to save it to either files floppy cd orwhat ever it's like clicking on my computer.I have never had the option to just automatically save to disk even with 5.5 .Both have always given me the choose one or the other? If this makes sense. But stick around i'm sure some one will figure it out http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

When you select the file to download, the dialog box should come up displaying options to 'save to disk', or 'open the file'. Select whichever option you prefer, then below that, there should be a box saying something to the effect of this : 'Do not show this dialog box again' . If you select this, then click save, the file will download like normal. All future downloads will start downloading to your system without displaying that dialog box.

I use Gozilla to download and have had no problems at all with IE6 running in ME as well. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
