I have a folder with mp3 files in several folders and I just want to flatten the folder so all mp3 files are at the root folder level. I tried a batch file:

xcopy *.mp3 /s

Any way I use xcopy the dos box just scrolls through an endless loop.

I don't know how to do it easily...aside from using the Search function in Explorer and copy/paste

Then xcopy SHOULD work without a problem...no need to do 'run as admin' But I'm not sure of the exact syntax to use for it....been too long since I ran it on XP.

But you should be able to, in Explorer go into to the folder, select all (or if there are other things in the folder set Explore to sort the files by 'type') and then cut and paste them into any other folder. you want.

Maybe this is the solution?

While I have not solved my original idea, I did figure this out. I named my batch file, xcopy.bat...this causes a problem because that is a system command name.

xcopy should have had the switch, /-i and then append a counter to the file name for duplicates...
