I got a small issue with Windows sleep function. Whenever Windows goes to sleep (I have it set to go after 45min), when I turn the computer back on from sleep it often freezes. Sometimes it gets stuck at the welcome screen and sometimes on the desktop. If I try to click any icons, nothing happens and all I can do is restart the machine.

Anyone have any idea of what the problem might be and how could I fix it?

Thanks!

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

There could be a whole plethora of reasons for this happening, unfortunately. Do you know if you have the most up-to-date drivers for all your hardware? What about the BIOS? What's the hardware spec of the PC?

How would I check if I have everything up-to-date? I definitely know that my video card was recently updated.

Some specs (let me know if you need to know more):

I regularly use an application called SlimDrivers, which you can download free from here (http://www.driverupdate.net/).

I would, however, caution you to use it judiciously and ensure you really need those updates. What motherboard do you have installed on your PC? If it's a fairly modern one, any updates to BIOS should be relatively pain-free. Once again, however, just be careful when doing such an update and be really sure you have the proper information to hand.
