View Full Version : Removing uninstalled Programs from System Configuration Utility?

Running Win 98 SE.

I've noticed that there are a number of programs in the System Configuration Utility that I've long ago removed, yet there is still a reference to them in the SCU. They no longer load (unticked), but I'm wondering if they can be removed somehow?

Any ideas?

Hi Boo Radley,

The usual Warning first! Back-up your registry before making any changes and be familiar with the Scanreg /restore DOS command.

Start/Run....type regedit then got to.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version

Look at all the Run* folders and delete any references to the undesired entries in MSCONFIG.

Good reply geebee!
I like deleting them by my cpu/c: drive/program files/ and then find the program and alternate click them and delete/
