hai guys, i received this message when i turn on my computer.
"sb irq conflicting with pci irq"
"sb16 driver is not loading"
i found my sb irq is 10 and there wasn't any problem in control panel property.
by the way i've installed the newest driver for my sb live. but it's still the same. got any idea why this is happened?
is it bad for your harddisk if you defrag it every day?
thanks heaps anyway.

Try booting your computer into Safe Mode (tap the F8 key every second after starting the PC until you get the boot menu, then choose Safe Mode) and go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager. Delete ALL references to sound cards from there (there may be more than one, so be sure to delete them all). Then restart in normal mode and let Windows re-detect your SB Live. If the conflict is still there after you restart the next time, you may have to repeat the above steps, then shut down, open your case and physically remove the sound card from its slot. Reboot and your conflict error should be gone. Now shut down again and reinstall your sound card (you can try a different slot if you have one available). Hopefully Windows will assign a different address to the SB Live and resolve the conflict.

If that doesn't work, please let us know and we'll try to come up with something else.

I was running PIII 500 and had the same problem. If you go into the Control panel and go to "System", and then to "Devices", you will see that "sb16 emulation driver is not loading".
I am assuming that you downloaded "Liveware 3.0" and now you have this problem.

1st- you can "uninstall" the Sblive and all of its software. You can take out the card also as a "Safe" step so that Windows will not see any Sound device at all.

2nd- you can install the the Sblive back into the machine, and install the software....

IF YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED LIVEWARE 3.0, DO NOT USE THE CD SOFTWARE AGAIN!!!!!!

3rd- Go to the file that you have the "Liveware 3.0", and run the setup for that download, and follow the instructions.

The "Liveware3.0" download is the software that you want to use. It is the latest software for the family of sound cards.

After setup has completed, reboot your machine and you should not have the
"sb16 emulation driver not loading" error anymore.

If you do still have the "error" appearing, follow these instructions:

Click on it once and them click on propeties and then you will see at the bottom of that window, "Disable this device". Check that box and then "Apply".

sb16 umulation driver being disabled.... you won't hear the differnce.

This should take care of your problem, and if not then email me for more info.
