View Full Version : I've got Admin Priveledges but still getting denied...

This is my first post to the this forum. Also, though I am an experienced user, I am completely unexperienced on the tech side of things. So please try and keep explinations and instructions as clear and plain as possible for me.

I'm running 64bit Windows 7 and have administrator priviledges. However, when going to save files to certain locations (C: drive), I get denied, with the attached message.

I tried (and succeeded) once before in simply creating a login as "Administrator" and was then able to execute all the tasks Windows wouldnt let me before. But I just don't see why my regular login (which has full admin priveledges) won't work.

Can anyone tell me what the cause and fix is for this?

You may think you have admin permissions but with UAC (User Access Control) in place (http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to-disable-and-turn-off-uac-in-windows-7/) your authority has been undermined.

Turning off UAC might do the trick. Another approach is to use the icacls command under Win 7 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprosecurity/thread/468ad34f-9f0f-4f51-b1bd-42b507f5cd03) to change the permissions in the root of C: and so on.

You can also edit the permissions of folders in the Properties dialog box
