Noticed a folder named SMNST listed in Program Files and am curious to learn what sort of folder it is. Spybot Search & Destroy, Unlocker and uTorrrent are the three folders listed under SMNST. Too, what does SMNST stand for?

A speedy reply will be greatly appreciated.

If you have an HP then it sounds like it is related to some proprietary recovery software (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-systems-and/Restoring-Recovery-Manager-amp-F11-System-Recovery-lost-due-to/td-p/171132).

Thanks for your timely response, however, the link provided alludes to a SMNIST, not a SMNST folder. Although that may be both folder's specific function, System Restore, which is HP's F11 function. Moreover, the link speaks of a Windows 7 install and my OS is Windows vista Home Premium. Hope someone will soon clear the inconsistencies up.

Sorry wrong acronym.

There is very little on SMNST (http://www.acronymgeek.com/SMNST)and computing on Google - which is of its own accord somewhat suspicious.

You could try renaming the folder to say SMNSTtemp and see if it affects anything after a reboot. Also is there anything related in Add/Remove Programs?
