If that link doesn't help, take a look at the help file on your OS and read about Direct Cable Connection.
What cable do you have?

I suppose you have a paralel or a serial cable.
- If you have Win 9x instaled on your PC you can use Direct Cable Connection. Set your PC as Master and the other as Slave. Share the folders that you want to copy ... and go on
- You can also use Norton Commander (if you have MS-DOS as Operating System) - it's about Left/Right -> "Link..." or Windows Comander - it's about Commands -> "PORT connection to other PC..."

Good Luck!!!

Here (http://www.homepcnetwork.com/cable.htmhttp://) is a how-to...this (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/dsl.htm) one discusses how to share a DSL connection.

I use a program called LapLink, which will use parallel ports, serial ports, modems, wireless, network connections, and/or dialup networking.

I imagine a later version than mine will allow you to use USB ports.

It is user friendly and clever. It will synchonize directories and the subdirectories under then with all the useful options you need.

I was going to network my two systems, and intended to use LapLink as a temporary mechanism. It is so good, I have not bothered to network my systems and might never do it.

If all you want to do is keep the files synchronized between two systems and/or backup one sytem on the other's drives and vice versa, Laplink is all you need. I am using parallel port connections, which is great if you have unused parallel ports. My one system does not have a printer and the other has two parallel ports. Without the extra port, I would have to disconnect my printer or use an AB Switch.
