Shutdown script

Is there a way to run a script on Win2K Pro at shutdown independently of Win2K Server and Group Policy? For some reason, although logon scripts run OK, I can't get any shutdown or logoff scripts to run by configuring GPOs and it's driving me mad.
So if there is a Pro-only way of doing it I would love to know!
