Today, it happened for the third time. The first couple of times, I thought maybe it was a fluke or something...

What you ask?

I got booted off my network when a Windows 7 machine was turned on. Now, mind you at the time this machine was booted, it was MAC address blocked from connecting at the router! Not only did it boot me, but it got total network access...including the internet.

If Windows 7 is that 'robust' that it can blow through a MAC address block on the router, it's not an OS...it's a friggin' piece of malware!

PS: I just removed 3 separate blocking rules on my router...all for the same MAC address.

What antivirus and antispyware programs do you have?

It's clean...Avira on the Win7 machine.

It's that the Win7 machine gets around the MAC block AND co-opts MY IP address. When it does this I can reboot and get a new IP address...or I can shut off the damn Windows box and get back on the network. From looking at the Win7 box, it looks like it keeps trying to connect/running the 'repair connection' automagically until it connects. Oh, and if I assign it a static IP and it can't connect, it falls back to DHCP.

This particular box is a media center...Hulu and Netflix are about the only places it goes.

It's like Win7 wants to be the primary machine/network controller...
