How to switch OS to new drive

i have recently bought a maxtor HD and i wanted to switch my windows xp to the new drive because the new drive transfer faster(100mbps). Can this be done?Does it make a different in terms of performance?

yes it will make a difference in performance, but you ll have to call microsoft and reload the os on the new hard drive. Or go to there website, because its your father and you gotta check in because youll get scolded if you dont check in with them , to make sure its ok.
