I am trying to install Win95 on an old 486/DX 100 with 32Mb RAM.
Everything goes perfect until it gets to the part near the end .You have just finshed copying files and the computer has rebooted itself, now it says it is setting up Control Panel, Shortcuts, Help, Time Zone and Printer. I have never seen this happen before but for some reason it skips right past the time zone part. This wouldnt be a big problem but after the set up is complete, when I go into control panel all the expected icons are there but over half of them do nothing. Above all this the 'control panel - system - Device manager, doesnt show any problems yet the sytem is very unstable and freezes very often. Does this problem sound at all familiar with anybody

I had a Windows installation fail five times before I suspected that the CD-ROM might be the problem. The symptoms were a little different each time, but generally each installation was unstable and some features were missing. Getting the same error each time sounds more unusual.

Thanks Ried but I have tried the disk in another machine and also the cdrom drive itself, Ivem also tried changing cables, hard drive, simms all to no avail. I guess it must be in the Mother Board or the CPU as they are the only components I havent and can't check
