i just installed a amd 1.4. its running at about 140 degrees. its that to high or ok? thanks guys

should run between 35-55-c hope you have yours set at farenheight???

scottnel... Welcome to PCGuide.
45C equals approx. 115F. At 140 you are a little bit on the warm side but not critical. And we are not talking idle temperature here.
The 1.4 by nature runs warm for something to do. There is a BIOS version or two that causes this chip to run much to hot.
Also, there are other variables involved. Seems like every software program that reads CPU temps will give a different reading.
Are you using the retail heatsink/fan (coolermaster) that came with the CPU? They will get a person by although there are much better aftermarket units available. At a reasonable cost. IMHO if I were running a 1.4 then next weeks allowance would go for a dynamite heatsink/fan. Orb
