Hey guys/girls,

I have just started uni and doing computer science and artificail intelligence, and i have been doing alot of work on unix, so i thought it would be good practice to have a linux flavour on my computer, so i went and downloaded the lastest ubuntu, anyway..

Once installed all is was ok until it came to the internet, the problem is i can't access any sights, sometimes google other times nothing, yes i am connected to the internet via a proxy, but it all works perfectly fine on windows, i even clicked on network settings on ubuntu and configured a proxy, but with or without these settings the internet doesn't work constantly

i did a ping test on i think what is my primary dns and was loosing packets all over the place, i have tried to Google the problem, but i could not find anything helpful. Any ideas? :)

Lost packets sounds more like bad connectivity due to hardware as does the intermittent nature of your problem.

Is this a wired or wifi setup?
