hi peeps,
I'm having probs with newly built comp (1MGhz Athlon). I'm using WinMe and it takes ages to open My Computer and other menu options.
Does anybody have a clue as to why this could be happening and what I can do about it?

cheers,

Could be a deep problem, but there is program, called like winhack and it speeds up these processes. Try to find it at www.cnet.com (http://www.cnet.com) and go to downloads and search for it .

I would suggest formatting ME, and installing Win'2000.
You'll be better off in the long run and you cannot upgrade to
Win'XP with ME (ME, XP, SE,...two many two-letter abrev.).

Hi Wings,
A little more system info would help. A 1 Gig Athlon running ME shouldn't be slow at anything.
Who built it?
How much RAM?
What other programs are running in the background?
Have you done any of the Windows updates? Go HERE (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) and check for product updates.
I would try these things first (simple stuff), then deffinatly try Diurnal's tip.
Good Luck
