Hello.

I recently bought Skyrim! ye.
So when I open it up i'am frustrated with the fact that "Low settings" were somewhat laggy, now considering that I have a Radeon Graphics card, that shouldnt be a problem.

Upon furthur inspection of the games settings the option menu of Graphics Adapter is set to Mobile Intel (HD) Graphics. Which is in itself a fail.

So i spent 3 hours on HP tech support trying to get it to recognize and use my Radeon, eventually he gave me a download that somewhat fixed the problem, it made my Recomended graphics go from Low" To High" But it changed the name From Mobile Intel^ To Intel HD Graphics Family.

Is this correct? Could i get it to show Radeon 6490m like my friends computers?

This is all due to HP's ridiculous decision to have two graphics cards, which in my opinion is stupid, I only want to use the best one.

Opinions? Help?
Thank you.

Model HP you are using...

It sounds like maybe you need a driver update or to change a BIOS setting (probably the one that determines which is the primary card)...or both.

"Graphics Chipset Radeon HD 6490M Switchable"...that means there is, most likely, a BIOS setting to turn it on. You will need to do that before the drivers will install. As it is, all that is being seen is the onboard Intel graphics chipset. Not quite Skyrim worthy...

Ok, I went into bios and changed the Graphics card thing to Fixed and not dynamic then restart and it now only shows in my device manager" Only the intel one, my Radeon Disapeared. So i reverted it and it showed up again, skyrim graphic adapters menu remained unchanged.

Make sure that you aren't trying to run on batteries only. That your 'power profile' is saying that you are plugged in and set to something other than Power Saving (Control Panel -> Power Options)...High Performance would be what I would choose, battery charge or no.

Also check the BIOS for any power saving settings...you may need to disable those, if there are any, too.
