wow...im having a serious problems with my windows....i just installed a fresh perfect copy of windows 98 and then i install my sound card and graphics card and then when i tried my network card...it asked for my windows 98 CD and then it rebooted without finishing the operation...(and yes im sure i didnt hit the reset button accidently) dont insult my intelligience...does anyone else have this problem? My setup is an AMD 400 with 128 ram and ATI RAGE 128 graphic card, Soundblaster PCI 512 and a Diamond Homefree Network adapter....any help is appreciated...thanks

Possibly a hardware address conflict caused the reboot, even if no conflicts are showing in Device Manager. Boot into Safe Mode and check Device Manager to see if the network card is there and if there are any conflicts showing. Try removing the card from Device Manager, then shut down and physically remove the card from your computer. Reboot into Windows normally, then shut down again and reinstall the network card. Hopefully Windows will assign a different address with the reinstall and resolve any possible conflict, unless your network card is jumpered for a certain address. If that's the case, you may have to change the resources for any other hardware sharing the address the network card wants for itself.
