MS offers the last versions of the suites for free; which in this case is VB 5. Go to their site and look up VB, you'll find a link for download there.

hi geebee, yse thanks. that was the first place i checked yesterday. i am not sure if someone has hacked their site and they are not aware of it, but everytime i click on the file to download it, it is a porno site. it is not in another window either, same window. i could not believe that happened when i click the file download. i do know that they are a good credible site, and do not understand why they would do that. like i said, i am not going to speak hard about them yet, because i do not know if they are aware of this. maybe everything will get fixed and they will be a credible site once again. thanks so much for your response, if you have anymore ideas, i will be glad to try somewhere else. thanks and god bless.

Hi Tad,
Try Here (http://www.geocities.com/icefiles/need.htm).
Give it a scan when you download it, to be on the safe side. Don't want any more shocks http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

hey geebee, hope you wnet to see what i meant about that site. what a big SURPRISE. not really the dll file that i was needing.ha ha. anyway, maybe they are not aware of it. (surely not). hey, the last place you sent me was great. got the file, scan it (no problems), and install it, and the vb5 is opened and running like a top. first time it has been opened since i downloaded it. due to it would not open because of the dll. but, enough for now, looks great, all i have to do now is jump in and start learning how to do something with it. thanks again gee. and god bless.

Hi Tad, I didn't see the site in question because I use a download program and all it did was save the HTML file to disk, which I just deleted.
Anyway good luck with the VB, stick at it because it is great fun writing little programs. If you need any help with the basics post back and if I can't help I'm sure someone else can.
