I have 2 PCs (running Win98) connected via a crossover ethernet cable. The networking works fine for accessing drives, etc.
However, I wanted to set them up to play 2 player games. The games said I need to have the connection be an IPX network. What is an IPX network? How can I get these computers to see each other on an IPX network?

On both computers goto: network in control panel click on the NIC used for playing the game click on add-->protocol-->microsoft-->IPX/SPX
You shouldn't have to configure this protocol as you do with TCP/IP
(this may not be totaly correct I am running XP and it is a diffrent procedure)

Thanks rond36! You were right on. It was actually very easy to do once I knew where to look. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/cool.gif
