I am a rookie. How do I create a blank CD using Nero Burning Rom 5.5 so that I can have another program(Backup Plus) make direct file writes?

TIA

yeah you are a rookie with a kind of question like that. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif
I dont know what your asking, should be a erase option in nero. Granted if the disk is a cdrw.Cdr will not erase.
Heres a link http://cdrfaq.org/
Enjoy

Did your Nero 5.5 version include InCD (http://www.nero.com/en/incdinfo.htm)? It allows direct writes to the CD. You might try going to their download page from the above link and see if you can upgrade.

I think your question was a reasonable one.

If I understand correctly. You are trying to do 'Packet writing' if so you have to format the disc first. (I use CD Creator, but I would assume Nero works similarly.)there is an option in the prog. to format.

for every question there's an answer. Then a load more questions.

Go to the "cd-recorder" menu and choose "erase-CD-Rewritable".
Only a CDRW can be erased and used agian. Most new CDRWs are already formated for you ,if not ,like Vic says there should be an option to do so. ( I don't remember off hand if there is or not )

Thanks everyone for your help: This forum is amazing.
The day after I made my first backup using a CD I had a HDD crash. The restore from CD was alot easier than with floppies. Now I'm ripping and burning!
