View Full Version : V7100 overclocking
I would like to know more about overclocking my Asus V7100 video card. I installed a cooler to the main processor, but do not have anything on the memory chips (no heatsink). What is a safe parameter for the engine and the memory clock? I tried it with as high numbers as 230/210 and achieved pretty impressive results. But I would not like to destroy my card, therefore I switched back to the original settings of 200/166 and are using these on long term. What can happen if I overclock too much? Only the sytsem freezes, or the card can get damaged as well?
Thanks for all info in advance!

iisbob will probably drop in with a few helpful suggestions, but you can get thermal epoxy and glue small heatsinks to the memory. And yes you can actually damage the card by overclocking it, but generally that is from heat and you have a cooler on the processor, also there are warning signs that you are getting too high (like the system freezing up). But I would think that a 10% would be ok...not as high as you had it but also not likely to produce as much heat
