I understand it is possible to produce an exact copy of the HDD containing one's OS onto a 2nd drive, so that you can seamlessly switch to/boot from that 2nd drive should the 1st one fail. I've had no experience with this. What is the best way to make such a copy & have it available in the event of failure?

TIA

Fred

You can generally use a utility from the makers of the hard drive. I personally nearly always use the freebie CopyWipe (http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/copywipe.php) run from a floppy or cd.

Paul - Thanks for your replies to this and my post on file backup utilities. I'm going to try 2nd Copy, as you suggested in the other post, http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?p=476685#post476685 and also CopyWipe.

I always appreciate your advice :)
