How do I record a few seconds from a cd track?
I have tried to run record from the windows sound recorder while playing the player also on the computer, but the result sounds distant and strangled.
Even if I play about with the various qualities the results are bad.
I do have the Roxio sound streamer but this will only record full tracks.

Musicmatch (http://www.musicmatch.com) my friend, it will set you free! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

{ it's also free for the basic version, but well worth the $20 upgrade price } It'll allow you to rip from CD to MP3,WMA, WAV- rip from a line-in ( your old LP's or cassettes ), or burn straight to a music CD; converting MP3's to audio files directly to the disc.

Sound recorder only records 60 seconds, it's meant more for making system alerts and such.

You can make SOund Recorder record more than 60msecs by doing the following:
Make sure the room is quiet - record the silence for 60 secs - then whilst the indicator is still at the 60second mark press the record button again. You can do this as often as you want until you have the required legnth of time http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Thank you
Have downloaded Music match and noted that it does track CLIPS not sure if in basic version but will explore when I get a few free hours. It identified my cd tracks immediately which is better than the other one.
This could be the start of something big!
Thanks again.
