I am currently studying for Network+ exam and I would like to know how the Comptia Exams are. I have few questions, ex:
- Is a calculator/converter for binary-decimal provided ?
- Can I use a pen/pencil + paper to workout few problems (ex. convert to binary) ?
- If I pass, do I get the certificate on spot or is it mailed to me?
Any additional info will be very helpful.
All I know they are computer based, timed and that you cant go back to a previous questions.

The computer provided at the CompTIA test center will have Windows which includes a calculator that will do decimal to binary.
You will have a pencil and paper available to make notes.
Your computer will give you the pass/fail when you conclude your test or run out of time.
You will receive the certificate following the exam, I don't remember if it is mailed to you but in my case I think it was.
Time management during testing is very important, so I will give this advice: Answer all the questions you know the answers to, then work on harder questions you can determine the answers to by process of elimination...that way you will have enough time to try the ones you don't know the answers to.
Review the answers to correct obvious mistakes before you declare the test complete but be careful changing the answers, you can make mistakes in the review.

So I have the ability to jump around in questions? If I don not know a question, I can skip it and then later on go back and answer it?
If that is the case is it also possible to change my answer ?

Yes, that is how the tests work.
You can jump around, I jotted down the numbers of skipped questions on the pad so I would remember to go back later.
Yes you can change the answers until you conclude the test or it times out.
I used practice test drills from Trancender to get my speed of correct-answer recognition to a high level before taking the test.

Thank You for the answer. Very Helpful !!
- Is this also the case for Cisco exams ? (CCNA is my next step)
- You mentioned that paper + pencil will be available, any limit on these materials? Do I bring my own ?
Thanks once again.

CompTIA tests are multiple choice or match the term.
You cannot bring any materials into the CompTIA test, everything allowed is provided.
Cisco and Microsoft exams are unique.
Microsoft exams are very hard, make a mistake in your answer and a followup similar question follows, get that one wrong and soon the test is over.
I have not done a Cisco course yet so I cannot give advice on that one.

This reminds me of my school quizzes/exams, but this semester there are no test drills. Last semester there were drills for the tests in one of the classes I was taking.
I'm interested in these drills. About a year ago I d/l a sample drill from Tranceder, b/c I did not sign up on their site. Or maybe I did and got that sample drill, I don't recall exactly - so much on my mind.
I'm currently in my school's IT Support program, taking classes online (taking PC and Network Admin classes) and I'm aware that in order to get a job I'll have to pass the CompTIA exams, and at the community college that I go to it's a 2 year program of study but only if I go to school FT. Since I'm only attending school Half Time (which is really PT), my schooling will take about 3.5 years, so may I please ask is it too early in my schooling to practice these Trancender exam drills in my spare time?
Also is it possible to get the full drills and not just the sample drills? If so, what do I have to do?
Thanks in advance.

Old thread, but the reply should be valid.
You obtain the Transcender software on disk. You then go online and sign up for free Transcender Club, which lets you download about 3X more questions and answers.

Ok, do you have to pay for the disk? If so, how much does it cost?
If the disk is free, does this 3X more Q & A cover the entire exams (PC repair, Network and Security exams?
Will I have to get a disk for each exam?
