my question is can a vurus affect the hardware and if possible how
can it affect and which hardware can be affected by it?

Virii are actually "maliscious " software programs, really no different than Microsoft word or your favorite game; except they are intended to "break " things-not help you in entertainment or production.
As such they have the same capacity to interact with hardware as any other software, some of the worst ones can render your PC completely inoperable { CMOS variants that destory the basic information your PC needs to operate } or just be as simple as causing your icons to " shy" away from your mouse cursor when you try to click on them.
If you believe you are infected, or know someone whom you think maybe infected-post here with some details and someone may be able to assist you.
