I have seen a Richo cd-rw wich uses Nero software, do you think the installation would be affected by the Roxio I can`t uninstall???

Thanks for the address Yoda but, there isn`t any info on uninstalling "Roxio easy cd creator 5 basic" ,it seems to be for version4.2
I did however find a couple of files that I was able to re-name,the others are obviously for v 4 ,ie Cdr4dll.dll. If I try to install another cd-rw do you think I will have the same trouble?

Isn't Ver 5 listed in Add/Remove Programs (Control Panel) so a person can begin with the Remove option?

Need to go all the way with uninstall so that things will not conflict with different burner software.

Luck.

Yeah, if you can't get rid of the Roxio crap the you may bet stuck doing a fresh install of Windows in order to add any CD burning apps...I hate these damn uninstallable programs........you might be able, with patience and time use the inf file for Roxio 5 and do a "seek and destroy" mission to manually clean out the registry...did that once for DirectX...not very fun but it was extremely rewarding (then after I did that I found a DX-uninstaller... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ), just completely backup the registry before you begin...also using the removal instructions for 4.x may be a good starting point and speed up the process...

I use Nero, CloneCD, and EasyCD 5 all on the same machine-no diferent than having several word processing programs, you have to just tell them which one is default.

The only catch to this is the DirectCD ir INCD (that Nero uses ) will not work with one or the other installed-you have to use just one or the other.

Get a copuy of Regcleaner (http://www.jv16.org) it'll allow you to completely scrub your system of any software you don't want.

Well that`s sorted that out!!!!!!!! Regcleaner took 2mins to download and 10 seconds to rid me of that irritating Poxio file, A fantastic peice of kit. Time to go get rid of all the other unwanted stuff.
Thanks once again Folks. Tom.
ps. Roxio tell me They are not responsible for the problem as the software came as part of a bundle with the cd-rw, But they will sell me tech advice!! Time to visit Nero me thinks.

CD-Creator can be run along side NERO ( a far superior prog) prividing you do a search for and rename the following file (this way if you need to use cd-creator in the future you can just set back original name. The following file was found in cd-creator 4
"CDR4VSD.VXD" change it to "CDR4VSD.old" or similar.
Also if you go to Nero's download page and search to the bottom of page you should find a small file that will give you the choice of which writing software you want to load at boot-up.
